Economy and Finance
The Embassy monitors developments and changes in the regulations and policies governing Singapore’s economic and financial markets. By maintaining regular dialogues with Singaporean authorities and exchanges with other relevant stakeholders, the Embassy works towards strengthening the economic and financial ties between Switzerland and Singapore.
Part of the legal framework of the Swiss-Singaporean economic and financial relations are the regularly revised 2003 Free Trade Agreement between the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – of which Switzerland is a member – and Singapore, as well as the Double Taxation Agreement between Switzerland and Singapore, which entered into force on 1 August 2012. In 2025, EFTA and Singapore signed a Digital Economy Agreement. This milestone builds on Switzerland’s successful strategy to strengthen digital trade and diversify its international trade partnerships, further exemplified by initiatives such as the Future of Investment and Trade Partnership.
Numerous large Swiss companies, particularly pharmaceutical companies, banks specialising in wealth management and private banking, and software companies have a regional office in Singapore.
In 2026, Singapore and Switzerland signed the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. As leading global financial hubs, Singapore and Switzerland share a fundamental commitment to upholding the integrity of and trust in their legal and financial systems.
Switzerland and Singapore have also been engaged in regular dialogue on financial matters since April 2015.
